Beach in a Jar

Again one more project for my DD. Beach in a Jar, Just convert a glass jar look like a beach with sand, sea shells, weeds, and other collectible u can find. Also I need to draw the layers of the ocean and label it. It was lot of work collecting everything, but it was fun. The tedious job is, I had to rinse the sand to make it clear, otherwise it was muddy and not see through.

I filled the jar with Sand, water, sea shells, some rocks, pebbles, weed(instead of weed, I used moss), a little floating shark.

Finally I sketched a picture using pencil with my own imagination J and labeled it.
Hmmmmmm All DONE!!!

Office Picnic - Groovy 60s

Last week was the Office Picnic and I was delegated for decorations & design.  The theme was Groovy 60 -70s . So I created some funny protests like posters which I used to decorate to make the event groovy and colorful. Used lots of Peace Symbols, smilies, Hearts, Lava lamps, Disco lights for decoration. I collected Groovy pictures of co-workers and hanged them.
Here are the couple of posters I created for the decoration

Many of us dressed in hippy attire for the contest on that day. Guess What, I received the groovy prize of the contest. U know how? it was a lucky drawing from the names list and I was called to pick one name. To everybody’s surprise I picked my name as the lucky winner.. hahhahahah That’s huw I got the groovy prize & juz have a look @ it :-)

B'day Special

I got one more chance to make another Jewelry piece. It was my friend Gayathri’s Special big B’day on July 1st. She also joined the club of 30’s.
Jewelry set was little different from my first one. I started from the Scratch and spent almost 4-5 hours to finish. I am glad that she liked it and it was beautiful too when she wore it next day. The Pearls inbetween the Maroon Glass beads added more classy look.

Life is precious.. Enjoy it!

A long time ago, there was an Emperor  who told his horseman  that if he could ride on his horse and cover as much land area as he likes, then the Emperor would give him the area of land he has covered.

Sure enough, the horseman quickly jumped onto his horse and rode as fast as possible to cover as much land area as he could.  He kept on riding and riding, whipping the horse to go as fast as possible. When he was hungry or tired, he did not stop because he wanted to cover as much area as possible.

Came to a point when he had covered a substantial area and he was exhausted and was dying. Then he asked himself, “Why did I push myself so hard to cover so much land area? Now I am dying and I only need a very small area to bury myself."

The above story is similar with the journey of our Life. We push very hard every day to make more money, to gain power and recognition. We neglect our health, time with our family and to appreciate the surrounding beauty and the hobbies we love.

One day when we look back, we will realize that we don't really need that much, but then we cannot turn back time for what we have missed.

Life is not about making money, acquiring power or recognition. Life is definitely not about work!  Work is only necessary to keep us living so as to enjoy the beauty and pleasures of life. Life is a balance of Work and Play, Family and Personal time. You have to decide how you want to balance your Life. Define your priorities, realize what you are able to compromise but always let some of your decisions be based on your instincts.  Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of Life, the whole aim of human existence.

So, take it easy, do what you want to do and appreciate nature. Life is fragile, Life is short. Do not take Life for granted. Live a balanced lifestyle and enjoy Life!

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

8th Night

June 8th 2011, Wednesday
UZZZZuzzzz.
Another Scary Dream of the month
I am driving on something (not sure) and at the same time I am controlling another car (my own car in real) in front of me. Driving at the speed of 75 or 80 miles in a highway and when I realized I am going in hi-speed I was trying to reduce the speed but by then the car under control was out of my sight in a gentle curve. Ohhhhhhhh noooo, from nowhere a cop car with red & blue light blinks & siren. I got sooo scared and didn’t know what happened. Slowly I am reaching the spot and noticed the car with broken headlight(in real also). So it is my car pulled by the cop and I am really shocked. An Indian cop came and told me that it is the tire burst.  I become so worried (not because of the worn-out tire) about how do I tell this incident to DH. After all it is a dream, but still my mind was thinking about DH’s reactionJ. No doubt, “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus”

Egg Drop

Tuesday Jun 7th 2011
Next day my DD has to submit egg in a container for Egg-Drop Event. It is nothing but throwing the eggs of all the kids from a specific height and find out which eggs are survived & which are not. It seems like a lot of fun for the kids. The idea is we have to protect the egg in such a way it will not break if thrown from the height. So I started working on the project with 4 small paper cups, Styrofoam peanuts, Bubble wrap and Plastic Jar.
Step 1: I bubble wrapped the egg and place it in a small paper cup; then I covered with one more paper cup on the open end.
Step 2: One more layer of paper cup on both sides and taped the cups in between
Step 3: In a plastic jar I attached a heavy soda bottle opener (round shaped) using little play dough.
Step 4: I placed the sealed Cups in the plastic jar and cushioned with Styrofoam peanuts(loosely)
Step 5: Closed the lid and again taped it.
Step 6: I wanted to make couple of holes in the jar to release the force when the container hits the hard surface, I assumed egg will not have any impact if it has holes. But I forgot to make holes L
Tomorrow they will do the Egg drop and I am very curious to know the result. Ooooo laaaa laaaaah…. J

I cudn't believe. The Egg Survived. She received the Certificate with "Survivor" Sticker.  I am soooooooo happy that the egg survived the Egg Drop...

Yoga Loft

I personally feel physical fitness is more valuable for the family than the financial status. Gradually my DD will also realize & understand the importance of it.  I keep teaching her exercises and yoga poses. That’s also another goal for me. With all day long sitting (@ work), standing (for cooking) and sleeping, my body is physically strained and mind getting stressed. Hmmmmmm The body needs a break from the monotonous, regular activities; Mind is longing for peace & relaxes. What to do?  Run away from home and spend some time just for yourself. I am saying so, but it is toooo difficult for me to spare time besides kid, work, cooking, Laundry, shopping, cleaning ……But whenever time permits I go to the 24 hour fitness to attend group classes like Yoga, Zumbha or Hip Hop. I really feel gr8, refreshed after the exercise. எதுக்கு இவ்ளோ  கதை  சொல்றேன்னு  பாத்திங்களா,  இருங்க சொல்றேன், My 2 year membership with 24 Hour Fitness is endedL. I bought this from Costco(24 Hour Fitness 2-YR Adult Membership) for $299.99, juz less than $13 a month. If you are interested in going to gym or if you are a beginner, you should definitely consider this Costco membership.

After my return from India, I didn’t get a chance to go for Exercise. Finally my co-worker who goes to Yoga Loft , Olympia Downtown convinced me to her yoga class.  Thanks Elena! Having back pain in my mind I agreed. Yesterday evening I directly went to the Yoga Level I (Instructor: Robyn), which is more intense practice.  She is soo nice and gr8 in teaching yoga. I am little confused now either to take 2 year membership with 24 Hour fitness or just drop in classes like this Yoga Loft..
Will post my decision soon...

6th Night

June 6th 2011, Monday
Uzzzzzzzuzzzzz….
I & Vel are staying in a Room, Thirupathi. In the sofa, I saw a girl’s purse with TCS Tag (hardly I remember the photo and her name as Nadhini xxxxxx or so), Mobile and other things. In the dream I remembered Vijay, my friend working for TCS who called me on my b’day(Jun 5th it is real), and I thought I can call him and find out this girl’s details to handover the purse.  Then I realized that I can use the mobile to reach anybody who knew her. It was her father in the last dialed list and I called him & explained about the purse. The Hotel Manager and the next door old aged couple said the girl had lots of jewelry which she left in the room.  They were showing all the jweleries..
I donno what happened after that..very interesting…

27th Night

May 27th , 2011 Friday
Adventurous dream!
It was a skywalk above water surface, little penguins in the water. It was too scary walking in the sky walk. Exactly like Grand Canyon Sky Walk, but water instead.
Next day I watched the movie Kung Pao Panda II. While watching the action scenes, somehow I remembered the dream again. “Strange”

25th Night

May 25th 2011, Wednesday

I was Uzzzuzzzzzzzzzz…
Residential area
I am entering a small cave like place; I saw couple of persons guiding me and said it is Sitthar’s(சித்தர்)  place. I was roaming around for sometime and saw kids playing under the trees. There was a ‘kudam’(குடம்) inside the cave with water which remains full forever.
Unexpected dream!.

Appa Amma Shastiapthapoorthi

Back from India after 3.5 weeks of vacation. Family, friends, relatives, Temples, Couple of family functions,  Parent’s Doctor Visits, can’t believe , so much of travel .. Hmm let me take a breath..
We went to India for Vel’s Chitti Chittpa's & my Parent’s Shastiapthapoorthi.
I need to say something about Shastiapthapoorthi here.
We are living, enjoying this lovely world only because of parents.  Our Name, Happiness, Education, Health, House, Job, Kids everything belongs to our Parents. It is a very long  & hard way raising us to a good position. Lots of difficulties, struggles, hard times ... But still they did their best part to full extent. Now Appa is 60.  Attaining age 60 in human life is a wonderful blessing and it is really special to celebrate as a grand occasion. Kids and Grandkids will get the chance of seeing their marriage. It is one of the greatest opportunities for the kids to show their gratitude for parents. Really I am so pleased to Thank  my In-Laws, Banu Chitti, Chittappa, my DH, Jayanthi, Geetha Athai, Amul Athai, Andal Athai Kavitha akka, Parvathi mammi, Dr. Mamma, Kasthuri maammi, Gandhi Mammi, and dear relatives & dear friend .for their support in arranging such a gr8 event. Also Guna Athaan  came all the way from B'lore with his whole family.
I am mentally Thanking God for giving me the chance to do this blessed celebration.
I am sharing few Glimpses of the event..
